UPDATE: As of 08/02/2016, this bill did not make it to a floor vote.
In Massachusetts, a comprehensive energy bill, S. 2372, and Amendment 48 would introduce a carbon tax without giving public testimony and feedback.
A carbon tax is a fee intended to make users of fossil fuels pay for climate damage their fuel use imposes. The carbon tax would raise the price on energy generated from oil, natural gas and coal.
This tax will be paid for by all users of carbon, but only certain residents would receive a rebate from the collected taxes.
